Neil Armstrong made his first X-15 flight #OTD in 1960! He was actively engaged in both the piloting and engineering aspects of the X-15 program. During this flight, the aircraft was equipped with a new flow-direction sensor (ball nose) and a self-adaptive flight control system. http://pic.twitter.com/ufSNYkiMFQ

The Lunar Landing Training Vehicle was a critical tool for astronauts training to land on the Moon. Although he ejected during one training flight to escape a crash, Neil Armstrong credited his LLTV training with accomplishing the first Moon landing. https://www.nasa.gov/feature/50-years-ago-on-the-way-to-the-moon-6 …http://pic.twitter.com/4PjIO8rcEd
Dick Bass, the first person to climb the seven summits, talked about his travels around the world for hours with a man sitting next to him on a flight. Before landing, he realized he hadn't asked the guy anything about himself. "That's OK," the man said.. "I'm Neil Armstrong."

Neil Armstrong took the pieces of the Wright Flyer with him to the Moon in his personal preference kit, connecting the first flight to the first Moon landing. In 1970, he signed this letter to certify that the pieces flew on #Apollo11. #Apollo50http://pic.twitter.com/kRGPdLdJZI
While working on some projects, I've been binge watching an old aviation documentary series, First Flights with Neil Armstrong (early 1990s era). Great series just like the old "Great Planes" http://pic.twitter.com/43FzcXEOXm
@StephenCurry30 You are also welcome to tour the NASA Center at Edwards Air Force base. This center is where Neil Armstrong was a test pilot along with first flights of the lunar lander test vehicle. Would love to talk about the Aeronautics part of NASA with you too.
Neil Armstrong was one of the engineers integrating the MH-96 fly by wire system into the X-15, he flew the first 4 flights with it.
